Das ThinkPad Dock II vereinfacht die Kabelführung und bietet umfangreiche Merkmale zur Desktop-Erweiterung. Die Dock II unterstützt Pass-Through für folgende Anschlüsse: RJ-11, RJ-45, seriell, parallel, Tastatur, Maus, Monitor (15-Pin und DVI), USB (4 Schnittstellen), Audio-Ein und Audio-Aus. Das Pass-Through der RJ-11- und RJ-45-Schnittstelle ermöglicht dank der Mini-PCI-Card-Architektur der ThinkPad Notebooks den Aufbau von Netzwerk- und Modemverbindungen. Das Dock II unterstützt Gigabit Ethernet und USB 2.0 auf entsprechend ausgestatteten Systemen. Darüber hinaus verfügt es über eine Ultrabay 2000 Bay für optionale Ultrabay 2000 Geräte wie zum Beispiel CD-ROM-Laufwerke, ein zweites Festplattenlaufwerk samt Adapter oder ein DVD-ROM-Laufwerk. Zwei zusätzliche PC-Card-Steckplätze und ein PCI-Steckplatz halber Bauhöhe (für Desktop-Erweiterungskarten) runden die vielseitigen Konfigurationsoptionen des ThinkPad Dock II ab. Eine integrierte Verriegelung und eine integrierte Systemtray schützen Ihr ThinkPad Notebook im Dock II.

The IBM Dock II (Model 2877) is the most feature-packed dock IBM sells. In addition to supporting all the features of the Mini-Dock, the expansion capability of the Dock II can transform a regular Thinkpad into a full blown workstation with multiple monitors (PCI video card), higher fidelity audio (PC Card audio), and additional storage Ultrabay 2000. These expansion features are not supported by all Thinkpads, therefore the Dock II does not support as many Thinkpads as the Port Replicator II or Mini-Dock.
